The International Research Project (IRP) is the most comprehensive project of the Marketing Association Amsterdam (MAA). With great pleasure and success, it has been conducting research all over the world since 1990.
Commissioned by Dutch companies, eighteen dedicated students with different educational backgrounds go abroad to explore the opportunities of a foreign market. The project is affiliated to the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit (VU). The students receive guidance from professors facilitated by both universities.
This summer the country of choice is COLOMBIA.
SIMONE NEUVEL | CHAIRMAN
For Simone challenge is the key to success. In her opinion, people need challenge to achieve ever higher personal goals and to keep creating new opportunities. RIANNE JACOBS | TREASURER
Besides doing her Master of Science in Business Administration, coming
year Rianne will expand her practical skills as a board member of the
International Research Project. The IRP enables her to develop her
consultancy skills and gain relevant business experience in an upcoming
foreign country. With her positive mindset and strong sense of
responsibility, she is highly motivated to make a success of this year’s
PEPITA ZONDEROP | MARKETER
After finishing her semester abroad in Tokyo, Pepita couldn’t wait for more international experience. Starting her Master of Science in Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam, she is eager to acquire more know-how in the field of doing business. She sees the International Research Project as the perfect combination of consulting practice and exploring a new culture. Her position as marketer gives her the possibility to improve her design skills and give the IRP a creative boost!
ROSALYN RUS | EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
Rosalyn is in the middle of her Masters in Computational Science at the UvA. Besides her technical education, she is excited to expand her business skills as a board member of the International Research Project. Her position as External Affairs gives her the opportunity to obtain a commercial mindset and become an expert at business communication. She is looking forward to this challenging year.
HERMKE MEIJERINK | EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
Hermke is an ambitious student at the University of Utrecht. Last year she finished her first master degree in social psychology. This year she decided to start a second master and to be part of the International Research Project board. Within the International Research Project she will fulfil the sales position and her goals are to expand her sales and management skills. Hermke is looking forward to a year full of fun and learning experiences!
WHAT THE INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECT DOES
The IRP is there to assist you in exploring your international opportunities. We are an independent organization and are not affiliated to any (commercial) company. Being able to practice our gained scientific knowledge and obtain international experience motivates our researchers.
We are a non-profit organization and our objective is to deliver a high quality research report of value to your company at cost price. .
By conducting the actual research on location, we will analyze the local economy, culture and political structure together with local parties to enhance the quality and validity of the research for your company. .
We are able to bring multi-disciplined knowledge. Our highly skilled consultants have different educational backgrounds and are able to combine academic and theoretical knowledge with fresh practical ideas and views. .
Our team will be assisted, supported and challenged by several renowned professors from the University of Amsterdam and the VU University Amsterdam.
IRP 2018 – CROSS BORDERS FOR YOUR NEXT PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE!
Are you ready to push your limits and gain some international experience? The International Research Project is looking for Student Consultants to join us to Colombia this year!
We search for dedicated persons who can’t wait to accept this challenge and are (last year / third year) bachelor, pre master or master students. Consultants have to speak and write fluent in Dutch and English and need to be able to spent an avg. of 14 hours a week on the project.
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
The project will start in November 2017. During the first months (Nov – May) student consultants will be busy with training and acquisition. In this period you will contact Dutch companies to see if they are interested in doing a project with IRP in Colombia.
The main aim of IRP is customizing research that matches the needs, challenges, and requests of companies. Once the research goals are clearly defined, you as a student consultant will write a research proposal. Examples of potential research assignments are: market analysis, competitor analysis, or investment opportunities.
Four weeks of desk research will start in June. During these weeks the research teams will visit guest lectures and seminars to gain knowledge about the economy of Colombia, the culture and the political structure. As a student consultant you will gather all the necessary information for your research project in this month before going abroad.
In July the board and student consultants will visit Colombia for four weeks offield research. The team will visit companies and institutions for further data collection. In this final phase of the project, this data will be analyzed and the collected data will be processed. A customized report with the findings and recommendations will be presented to the companies in September.
