  • 0 – 2 jaar relevante werkervaring;
  • Een sterk analytisch vermogen en uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden;
  • Een flinke dosis ambitie en leergierigheid;

Are you a 3rd-year University Bachelor-student or a Master-student in the field of Business, Marketing, Economics or Innovation? And are you looking for a position where you can apply your knowledge and skills? This vacancy may be a great fit for you!

Application deadline: 12 December 2021.

Project description
The Utrecht University Developmental Assessment Battery (UU-DAB) is an online application in which researchers from the department Development and Education In Diverse Societies (Faculty of Social Sciences) make measurement instruments available for external parties. These measurement instruments (behavioral tasks, questionnaires) are aimed at identifying cognitive, motor, or social development of children. UU-DAB valorizes scientific knowledge in two ways:

1) by making instruments available to other researchers (national and international);
2) by making instruments and normed data available for use by professionals (such as clinical psychologists, speech therapists, educational professionals) so they can use them for screening, diagnostics and tracing child development.

The goal of the current project is to create the necessary conditions for making UU-DAB suitable for use by a broader customer group (scientists and professionals). The two assistants will collaborate but will focus on separate aspects of the project:

Research Student Assistant #1 (Market research) – Dutch
You will focus on preparing and executing a market analysis. This involves identifying customer groups and their needs, formulation of a value proposition, identifying channels for reaching customers, and developing a business model including costs and revenue (what are users willing to pay, what is a competitive rate?). Since you will be communicating with customers in various fields, and will be examining similar products on the Dutch market, we are looking for a native Dutch speaker for this position.

Research Student Assistant #2 (Organizational structure) – English or Dutch
You will assist in identifying the conditions (sources and processes) needed within (and perhaps outside) the Faculty of Social Sciences. UU-DAB is a bottom-up innovation, and the organizational structures within the faculty are not yet focused on entrepreneurship. You will organize and have conversations with employees of different services within the faculty to identify the services needed and the costs related. This requires an identification of core activities and activities that can be outsourced, in addition to identifying network partners. These partners may be related to IT support, customer service, licenses, payment structure, communication and marketing channels.
Both students assistants will collect information through desk- and field research. You will also have conversations with researchers who have experienced similar trajectories. Organizing focus groups and interviews, as well as making notes, will also be part of your activities. You will analyze the collected data and report back to the researchers involved. These reports will be used to set up the required structure and processes.

Who are we looking for?
Two social and enthusiastic students (3rd-year Bachelor or Master) with a background in Business, Marketing, Economics or Innovation. Note: students who have recently graduated are also welcome to apply. In that case, you could consider applying for a larger position, combining the two positions described (0.4 FTE, 16 hours a week).
You recognize yourself in the following description:
• You are organized and pro-active;
• You communicate clearly and you easily make contact with people;
• You have knowledge about entrepreneurship and market research and/or organizational structures;
• You have an interest in (pedagogical) social issues and social impact (preference);
• You have an interest in IT solutions (preference).

What we offer
Two part-time positions (0.2 FTE, 8 hours a week) for 6 months in an interesting, academic environment, where you can use your knowledge and skills to contribute to the societal impact of social sciences. You will closely collaborate with the coordinating researcher and the rest of the team. If you want to connect this position to your thesis or internship, we can explore the possibilities.
For students enrolled in a fulltime study at university, the gross salary ranges between € 2.310,- and € 2.502,- (scale SA according to the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities) at fulltime employment, depending on whether you are a Ba or MA student.

Questions and applications
Are you interested in (one of) the positions or do you have questions? Send your application and resume or question to Dr Eva van de Weijer-Bergsma via e.vandeweijer@uu.nl. In your application, indicate clearly for which position you want to apply. Applications are due on 12 December 2021. Interviews are planned between 17-24 December.
